An increasing number of companies and utilities are using a variety of 08 telephone numbers instead of the normal numbers beginning with 01 or 02. These numbers (0870, 0845 , 0844 etc) usually charge more than the normal landline. Even if you have inclusive calls on your tariff, mostly these 08** number are not included.
So next time you have to call them go to say-no-to-0870. You can either type in the Company name, or type in the 08** number and it will in most cases give you an alternative to use which will be considerably cheaper or free if you are on inclusive calls. Then you can call them, happy in the knowledge your call is either cheaper or free.
If you have no friends, why not call up one of the Customer Service representatives and pretend they are your best mate, you can keep on chatting for as long as you want. They will think they are earning money by keeping you on the phone, and you will have someone to talk to for a bit. Aw.
